2025 Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon participants encouraged to participate for local charities

The Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon has welcomed aboard two local charities to benefit from this year’s 3-4 May event

Participants across any of the weekend events can choose to fundraise for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation and/or It’s a bloke thing, a not-for- profit foundation raising awareness and funds for prostrate cancer research, care and education.

Events Management Queensland CEO Ben Mannion said they were proud to welcome ‘It’s a bloke thing’ as an official event charity in 2025 and the return of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation after a successful partnership in 2024.

“People who sign up for any of our events can choose to make their participation even more worthwhile by fundraising for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation to help build a new regional cancer centre for the enhanced treatment and care of cancer patients.

“And by participating for ‘It’s a bloke thing’ funds raised will go towards vital prostate cancer research and awareness.

“In our experience making a commitment to running for a charity is often the powerful motivation people need to not only keep their training on track and achieve their personal goals but to also make a difference in the lives of others.

“Running for charity adds a sense of purpose to the physical challenge and often fosters a sense of community for participants supporting a particular cause.”

Mr Mannion said there was an event for all ages and abilities over the expanded Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon weekend including the 42.195km marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Visit Toowoomba Region 10km, 5km run and the unique opportunity to run the ‘Runway Mile’.

“I encourage people to make their entry count and if they’re not participating in an individual event get some workmates together and enter the Runway Mile Corporate Relay where a portion of the entry fee automatically goes towards the official charities.

“It doesn’t matter how much you raise for your chosen charity – every cent counts and is appreciated,” Mr Mannion said.

Events Management Queensland also proudly delivers the annual ASICS Gold Coast Marathon and the biennial Pan Pacific Masters Games which feature on the What’s on in Queensland events calendar.

Events Management Queensland acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the Toowoomba Region and pays respect to the Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the knowledge, rich traditions and bold ambitions of Australia’s First Peoples.
